Tony Igboamalu, a water and wastewater infrastructure director at Osmotic Engineering Group in South Africa, has been unveiled by international engineering federation FIDIC (the International Federation of Consulting Engineers) as the winner of its 2022 Future Leaders Award at a high-profile gala dinner event held on 12 September 2022 in Geneva.
The FIDIC Future Leaders Awards acknowledge and promote the outstanding achievements of future leaders in the consulting engineering industry worldwide and also encourage effective participation of future leaders in FIDIC.
Commenting on the 2022 awards, the chair of the judging panel and also chair of the FIDIC Future Leaders Advisory Council, Adam Bialachowski, highlighted the work of the council saying: “The FIDIC Future Leaders Advisory Council plays a key role in the awards. Made up of young professionals from FIDIC’s global member associations, the council was originally formed to provide emerging professionals in the consulting engineering industry opportunities to participate in FIDIC with their peers and to help develop the next generation of leaders of FIDIC and the industry.
Bialachowski said that the judges were unanimous in choosing a clear winner of this year’s award. Speaking at the awards ceremony, Bialachowski said: “The judges were very impressed with a clear and easy-to read submission which told the story of Tony’s personal contribution to the engineering community and the fact that he has gone above and beyond the norm, which reflects extremely positively on the industry.
“Tony has shown a very high level of achievement and a keen appreciation of the social impact of the work that he is doing, which perfectly reflects FIDIC’s key values and the positive difference that engineering seeks to make to society.Tony was a clear winner of this year’s award and the judges are sure that he will be an excellent ambassador for the industry’s future leaders and for FIDIC over the coming 12 months.”
