Bookings are now open for attendees to register their place for the Official FIDIC 2023 Contract Users’ Regional Conference for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

The Official FIDIC Contract Users’ Regional Conferences are aimed at the contract user community across FIDIC’s global geographical regions. This year's event for the EMEA region takes place online on 10-11 May 2023 and promises to be a must-attend event for all those working with FIDIC contracts.

This two-day virtual conference offers a unique opportunity to share progress on the application and use of FIDIC contracts in the EMEA region and will include participation from multilateral development banks, other funders, private sector organisations and clients, government, engineers, contractors, investors, lawyers, consultants and many other stakeholders who have an interest in the use and application of FIDIC contracts.

The first day of the conference will hear from a keynote speaker who will set the scene for the two-days and then the main sessions will explore some of the key issues facing contract users in the EMEA region. These include working with FIDIC contracts against a background of rising global inflation, conflict and increasing costs – and how the FIDIC contracts can assist in working under such conditions – and an overview and examples of EMEA regional project experiences with FIDIC contracts, with examples from the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Africa and Europe. Following these sessions, a series of discussion tables will look at the key issues of FIDIC contracts in the field and the engineer’s perspective, ESG and the net zero agenda and Arbitration.

Day two will open with a ‘Meet the FIDIC Contracts Committee’ session and main sessions will focus on the practical use of FIDIC contracts, including an update on the 2022 reprints of the FIDIC contracts and the guide and a discussion on some of the use of 2017 contracts in the region.

Further sessions will look at how the new FIDIC Green Book 2021 is helping to manage project risk with less resources and the final session will examine the ever-topical issue of Dispute Avoidance, offering a regional perspective on the use of dispute boards/DAABs by giving a comparative perspective on their use across the EMEA region.

Don’t miss out on this must-attend event for all those who have an interest in the use and application of FIDIC contracts.
