The FIDIC board gives global leadership to an organisation that represents more than one million consulting engineering professionals and 40,000 firms in more than 100 countries worldwide. On 16 September 2020, as part of its online business conference weeks, FIDIC is hosting an ‘Ask the FIDIC board’ online Q&A event to enable professionals from the international construction and infrastructure sector to ask board members questions on the key issues facing the global industry.

The ‘Ask the board’ session at 1.30pm CET on 16 September 2020 will be chaired by FIDIC CEO Dr Nelson Ogunshakin and John Gamble, chair of the FIDIC directors and secretaries’ advisory council. The event will include a 20-minute curated dialogue with board members then a 35-minute open Q&A session. Questions will be collected from participants in advance of the session on the following topics: -

  • What is happening in the global market?
  • How are FIDIC’s member firms responding to challenges?
  • How are FIDIC member associations responding to challenges?
  • What is FIDIC doing to address the industry’s challenges?
  • The key FIDIC priorities for 2020/2021.

Given that FIDIC member associations operate in over 100 countries with a combined population in excess of 6.5 billion people and a combined GDP in excess of $30 trillion, the FIDIC board is a very influential group representing a global industry sector estimated to be worth over $22 trillion. This means that FIDIC member associations internationally represent an industry worth over $8.5 trillion.
