AFNOR, FIDIC and UNEP agreed to move their collaboration to the next level

UNEP announced the publication of the international glossary on sustainable cities for COP21. Its goal is to enhance synergies between leading international organizations on sustainability.

During the joined seminar organized by AFNOR and FIDIC on May 20th, a side event to the Business Climate Summit in Paris, this organizations (UNEP, UN-Habitat, ICLEI, C40, ISO, ITU, CEN, CENELEC ETSI) identified essential areas of collaboration beyond the glossary which UNEP transmitted the coordination effort to FIDIC. It is vital that all considered urban goals (sustainability, smartness, resilience, resources efficiency,...) do not overlap in order to promote them to all city stakeholders, foster their application in the real world and support the growth of a sustainable urban market place.

AFNOR, FIDIC and UNEP agreed to move their collaboration to the next level and include those partnering organizations in the dynamic driven by the work on the glossary. Events in the coming months (COP21 in Paris in December 2015, HABITAT III in Quito in June 2016, COP22 in Marrakech end of 2016) will be the opportunity to consolidate this common agenda.
