Louis Prangey Award 2014

The Louis Prangey Award, the highest recognition for dedicated service to FIDIC, was named after the founding FIDIC President, Louis Prangey. The Louis Prangey Award was established to be presented to a person who has rendered significant service to the Federation and/or to the profession of independent consulting engineering, and who exemplifies the objectives of the Federation. The recipient is considered to be a role model for the consulting engineering industry.

Christopher (Chris) Wade has been serving the international engineering consulting industry for almost 55 years as a professional civil engineer with assignments around the world. 

During his career, Chris gradually became more and more dedicated to his professional development within the area of Contract Management, and then specifically into the FIDIC Contracts and Agreements. 

As a member of the FIDIC Contracts Committee since 1994, he became Task Group Leader for the drafting, publishing and maintenance of the world-wide recognised publications, the 1999 edition of “The FIDIC Rainbow Suite”.  This included the new look Red Book, Yellow Book and Silver Book of model contracts for the global Construction industry.  As such, Chris has been a key expert, together with many others, for the continued global success of these documents and for FIDIC´s brand. 

Chris was the Chairman of the FIDIC ´s Contracts Committee during the years 1999 – 2006, during which time the Committee also produced a number of important updates, and drafted new documents, such as the White Book 2006 4th edition, and the Design Build & Operate Gold book. More recently, he was the lead writer for the comprehensive FIDIC Procurement Guide.

Chris has served the industry as an independent Contracts Adjudicator, Dispute Avoidance Board Member and has been appointed by FIDIC and the ICC as Arbitrator for multiple large scale construction projects world-wide, and their dispute resolutions.

Today Chris is listed on the FIDIC Presidents list of FIDIC approved Dispute Adjudicators and also serves as an independent advisor, speaker and lecturer to the industry and to FIDIC.  He is still a vital asset for FIDIC and the continued development of its important Contract & Agreement model forms and guides.
