FIDIC has unveiled its webinar programme for 2024, which contains a diverse range of online events on key issues of interest to global engineering, construction and infrastructure professionals.

The 2023 webinar series saw thousands of global professionals attending a range of informative and insightful webinars and the 2024 programme is likely to be similarly attractive for attendees, with a full programme of events arranged from February all the way to December. FIDIC’s committees and advisory councils play a key role in organising the webinars, which cover a wide range of key issues of interest to the global engineering, construction and infrastructure sector and all events are free to attend.

The 2024 programme kicks off on 13 February with a webinar entitled Where is procurement going? Future trends and challenges for the industry which will look at the all-important area of procurement, exploring the latest developments and trends and looking at how procurement should evolve - and is indeed evolving - to deliver better and more sustainable infrastructure projects. This is followed by De-risking and leveraging infrastructure investment on 27 February which will explore the issue of investment for large-scale infrastructure and how such investments can be de-risked by international financial institutions.

On 13 March, a webinar entitled When it comes to culture does your company walk the talk? will examine an issue that is increasingly important for young professionals in particular – company values and are they being lived up to by the firms that they work for or want to join. Later that month, on 26 March, FIDIC’s Digital Transformation Committee will host an event looking at a topical issue around the issue of the fast-moving area of digital and technological change in the engineering, construction and infrastructure sector.

An ever-popular FIDIC contracts update webinar, organised by FIDIC’s Contracts Committee, takes place on 9 April and will give an update on the latest developments and trends around FIDIC contracts and what users need to be aware of at the present time, while an event on 4 June, entitled Your global connection to a world of benefits, highlights the value of FIDIC to its global member associations and some of the key benefits that FIDIC member associations receive from their FIDIC membership.

On 18 June, Collaborating to combat corruption is the second in a series of three events where FIDIC and EY will demonstrate the importance of undertaking anti-corruption activities at all levels and highlight the need for an industry-wide collaborative approach to tackling the scourge of corruption and offer some practical and workable solutions for companies and organisations looking to combat this key challenge for the industry. A How a collective industry voice makes change happen webinar on 25 June will look at some of the successful initiatives being undertaken by FIDIC’s global member associations which are making a positive difference to member firms in their local area and the wider industry.

On 15 October, Building more diverse and inclusive companies will examine how best to build diverse and inclusive companies in the engineering, construction and infrastructure sector by focusing on how to attract, retain and promote people to ensure that businesses are truly sustainable for the future. The following month, on 5 November, a webinar organised by FIDIC’s Sustainable Development Committee will look at current developments in the sustainability and net zero arena and how these are affecting the engineering, construction and infrastructure sector.

The 2024 programme of webinars concludes with Tackling corruption and rooting it out of the industry on 9 December, an event organised to coincide with the UN’s International Anti-Corruption Day and the third webinar in a series of three events where FIDIC and EY will demonstrate the importance of undertaking anti-corruption activities at all levels in an organisation.
