Dr. Ike van der Putte is an independent consultant and trainer at Van der Putte Environmental Consultancy. He has retired in 2017 from his services at RPS Consultants in Delft, the Netherlands, where he was the director of external relations and international environmental affairs. He has more than 30 years of professional experience as project manager and expert in the field of toxicology/environment, industrial pollution control, urban environmental management and institutional development. Since 1985 he has led multi-disciplinary and multi-national projects in Europe and Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, Middle East and Latin-America. These included a large number of training programmes with onsite inspections in various industrial sectors for inspectors and permit writers.

For FIDIC he was/ is involved as:
• Main author of the FIDIC business guidelines for environment (1994) and contributing author for sustainable development (2000).
• Co-ordinator in the development and upgrading of the UNEP/ICC/FIDIC Environmental Management Systems Training Resource Kit for industry (1995, 1997 and 2001) and the UNEP/ICLEI/FIDIC Environmental Management System Training Resource Kit for urban areas with development and training in the FIDIC Project Sustainability Management System (PSM I and II), procurement and Green Procurement (2007 – 2014).
• Trainer on the developed systems in various countries in Asia, Latin America, Europe, Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East
• A FIDIC accredited trainer since 2010 for Project Sustainability Management and Procurement (including Green Procurement), with a number of 3 training programmes carried out in South Korea (members KENCA, 2011-2013) and 9 in China (members CNAEC, 2014 - 2019).
He has chaired a number of committees in the national Dutch association (ONRI), the FIDIC (ENVT) and the European Federation of Consultancy Associations (EFCA -ENV).
He has represented FIDIC in the UNEP Sustainable Buildings and Climate Initiative, chairing the UNEP/SBCI board in 2008 – 2009.
He has been awarded with the FIDIC Prangey award for his activities in the field of sustainable development for the engineering sector (2008). He continues to be the representative of EFCA in the CEN TC 350 (European Committee for Standardization/Technical Committee – Sustainability of construction works) (2010 to date)

In the period 2010 – 2018 he was also the overall team leader, trainer and specific enforcement coordinator in the EU-funded programme “Regional Environment Network for Accession – RENA (2010 – 2013)” and “ Environment and Climate Regional Accession Network (ECRAN 2013-2016)” covering eight beneficiary countries in the Western Balkans, including Turkey. These programmes are led on a policy level by the environment ministers of the eight countries and DG Environment and DG Climate Action of the European Commission.
