Short summary experiences

Stephen Jenkins graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Canterbury in 1971 and completed a Masters degree at the Tepper Graduate School of Industrial Administration (GSIA) at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh USA, a leading business school and the home of quantitative management techniques. Through his career ha has been closely involved in the insurance industry and in risk management.

During the past 45 years he has been associated with many industries including the conversion of the fish packing industry to EEC standards, the wool scouring and carpet manufacturing industry, the venison industry, power generation, shipping, wine, oil and gas storage and the timber industry. He was instrumental in the introduction of new technologies in many Industries, and new species in others. In 1998 he moved to Wellington to head the Industrial Market Team for Connell Wagner (now Aurecon) in New Zealand.

During his career he was either consultant to or a founding director of several new industries and a number of small firms that introduced new technologies to the New Zealand market. His current work as a senior consultant includes technical due diligence for large transactions and assistance with the resolution of insurance claims including the repair and expansion of wineries. He is currently working on forensic investigations and industry developments.

He is currently the Chair of the FIDIC Risk and Liability Committee, is immediate past chairman of the Competency Assessment Board of the New Zealand Chartered Professional Engineers Registration Authority and is one of the chairs of the Engineering New Zealand Investigating and Disciplinary Committees.
