FIDIC took part in the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA) General Assembly Meeting (GAM) and Conference 2026, held in Istanbul on 4–5 June and hosted by the Association of Turkish Consulting Engineers and Architects. The gathering brought together the European consulting engineering community under the conference theme Rethinking Resilience: Rebuilding Europe to Withstand Climate and Security Threats, with a particular focus on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Europe and Ukraine in particular.
FIDIC CEO Susanna Zammataro spoke at the EFCA General Assembly Meeting. In line with the FIDIC strategic plan, the two organisations are jointly working on policy and advocacy priorities, reinforcing a shared commitment to advancing the consulting engineering profession and the focus on quality infrastructure for people and prosperity across Europe and globally.
Following the GAM, FIDIC vice president Adam Białachowski, spoke during the conference's second panel session on the restructuring of Ukraine. Drawing on his experience in project and contract management and his role representing the Board for the Reconstruction of Ukraine within Poland's National Association of Designers and Engineers, he contributed to a discussion on the practical challenges of rebuilding Ukraine's infrastructure and the role consulting engineers will play in the country's recovery.
The conference also recognised this year's cohort of EFCA Future Leaders, celebrating the emerging professionals who will help shape the next generation of European consulting engineering.
FIDIC thanked EFCA and host association ATCEA for convening a timely and forward-looking event, and looks forward to building on the cooperation reaffirmed in Istanbul.
