FIDIC has deepened its engagement in the Gulf region through two milestones with the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC), the central government authority responsible for capital projects and infrastructure across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The two organisations have entered into a multi-year strategic partnership running through to 2030, designed to promote best practices in procurement, contract management, dispute avoidance and resolution, capacity building and sustainability across the infrastructure sector. The collaboration positions FIDIC and ADPIC at the forefront of infrastructure dialogue and supports Abu Dhabi's ambition to be recognised as a centre of excellence for infrastructure knowledge, standards and innovation in the region and beyond.
Building on that partnership, FIDIC held its official FIDIC Day at the second Abu Dhabi Infrastructure Summit (ADIS 2026), staged from 12–14 May at the International Convention Centre, ADNEC Abu Dhabi. Convened by ADPIC under the theme, The Urban Evolution: Rethinking Cities, Redefining How We Live, the summit brought together more than 7,000 industry professionals, over 100 speakers and 75 exhibitors from across the global infrastructure value chain, anchored by Abu Dhabi's US$57bn infrastructure pipeline. For the first time, ADIS featured dedicated sessions developed with FIDIC, focused on procurement, FIDIC contracts in practice and dispute avoidance and resolution.
Delivering a keynote, FIDIC board member and president of CEAI India, Prashant Kapila, addressed the evolving role of consulting engineers in a changing global landscape, underlining quality, integrity and sustainability as the foundations of future-ready infrastructure.
The programme also included a FIDIC Academy workshop led by trainer Asel El Housan, in which around 120 attendees worked through practical contract questions, including the distinction and potential overlap between a variation and a claim.
FIDIC is grateful for the partnership and looks forward to strengthening the collaboration with an organisation committed to raising infrastructure delivery standards across the region.
