Press Release

As the ITF 2026 Summit opens its doors in Leipzig, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) and the International Transport Forum ITF have formalised their intention to strengthen their collaboration with the signature of a letter of intent.

FIDIC president Alfredo Ingletti said: “FIDIC is delighted to work with ITF. In line with FIDIC’s new 5-year strategy, this partnership will further enhance efforts to build the institutional and professional capacity needed to plan and deliver quality infrastructure for people and prosperity”.

Nestled within the OECD, the ITF serves as a prominent think tank for transport policy. Drawing upon its extensive research and expertise, ITF promotes strategies for safer, more efficient, and more sustainable transportation globally.

ITF’s Secretary General Young Tae Kim said at the signing ceremony: "Transport policy is only as effective as the infrastructure that delivers it. This partnership with FIDIC will bring together two organisations with complementary roles and we look forward to building on that through concrete actions. We look forward to working with FIDIC on the development of evidence-based transport policies that improve people’s lives,” said Kim.

FIDIC is the global body representing nearly 100 national associations, over one million engineering professionals and 40,000 firms worldwide. Used in 125 countries and translated in more than 30 languages, FIDIC standard contracts have become the reference in the infrastructure industry.

As they seek to amplify their impact in addressing the complex challenges facing the transport and infrastructure sector, the two organisations have decided to frame their cooperation into an MoU. Their joint collaboration encompasses a diverse array of initiatives such as the delivery of capacity-building activities, organisation of joint events and workshops, and knowledge and expertise sharing.

Commenting on this important milestone, Susanna Zammataro, FIDIC’s CEO said: “FIDIC’s new strategy puts partnerships at its core. By joining forces with ITF, we are uniquely positioned to pioneer innovation in project preparation and delivery by leveraging the untapped potential that proper procurement and contracting offer. We are ready to engineer a bright future together.”
