The winners of the 2025 FIDIC Contract Users’ Awards have been announced at a gala dinner event in London on 2 December 2025. The awards, now in their seventh year, recognise excellence in the use of FIDIC contract forms for project delivery and showcase global examples of good practice and collaboration worldwide.

From a global collection of entries, the judging panel, chaired by international judge and arbitrator Sir Vivian Ramsey, chose winners across five different categories – Project of the Year, Client of the Year, Consultant of the Year, Trainer of the Year and Legal Firm of the Year. The winners were unveiled at an awards dinner held as part of the Official FIDIC International Contract Users' Conference.

In a video address at the event, the chair of the judging panel Sir Vivian Ramsey said: “It’s been an honour to have been involved in judging these flagship awards again this year. They recognise excellence in the use of FIDIC contract forms for delivery of projects worldwide, including good practice and the use of the FIDIC Golden Principles. Again, we have had a strong list of entries including organisations, companies and individuals. The judging panel, which I chaired, had a challenging task in choosing winners.

“FIDIC contracts are seen as promoting fair and reasonable terms and are the contracts of choice for many leading clients and funding organisations including multilateral development banks around the world. The range of entries we received to the awards this year is a testament to the growing reputation of these awards which are now established as a key part of the industry’s global events calendar. Let’s keep the entries coming so that the 2026 awards can be even bigger and better.”

The full list of winners of the 2025 FIDIC Contract Users’ Awards are listed below, together with judges’ comments for the winning entries.

Project of the Year

Winner - Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO) Road Project in Tajikistan.

The judges were impressed by a project that delivers a critical transport lifeline in one of the most challenging mountainous regions of Central Asia. Judges liked the emphasis on standing dispute boards which were mobilised from the start and also adoption of the World Bank gender bias guidelines on the project, along with strong governance and management, which has led to a reduction in costs.

Highly Commended - Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project along Rufiji River in Tanzania.

Client of the Year

Winner – GED Africa.

The judges said that our winner was a model client in the implementation of international best practices across the African infrastructure landscape. Their embedding of FIDIC contracts and their ethos was commendable said the judges, who were also impressed by a delivery philosophy that world-class infrastructure requires world-class contractual frameworks, namely FIDIC. This has ensured contractual clarity and fostered a collaborative, solution-driven culture among all stakeholders.

Consultant of the Year

Highly Commended – Dorjkhand Maravdorj (Mongolia).

Trainer of the Year

Winner – Ignacio Palacios (Spain).

The judges were impressed with this person’s involvement in Latin America and the Caribbean, filling a space in the globe where there is a real need for FIDIC training, especially in the Spanish language, in regions that are of growing importance for FIDIC.

Highly Commended - Asel El Housan (United Kingdom).

Legal Firm of the Year

Winner – Pinsent Masons (United Kingdom).

They impressed the judges for the firm’s consistent choice of FIDIC contracts for the right circumstances and their essential contribution to the delivery and application of FIDIC forms across multiple jurisdictions. This firm’s wide experience and application of FIDIC forms in many different parts of the world was excellent to see, the judges said.

Highly Commended – LnP Beyond Legal (South Africa).

Also, during the awards event, Adriana Spassova from EQE Control in Bulgaria received a special recognition for playing a key role in helping to deliver the new FIDIC Carbon Management Guide. The guide establishes the overarching principles, frameworks and strategic approach to greenhouse gas management in construction projects and proposes a fair and balanced risk/reward allocation between all major stakeholders, while understanding that the maximum impact can only be achieved by actively managing carbon throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Commenting on the awards, FIDIC CEO Susanna Zammataro said: “As we highlight and celebrate our award winners this evening, we should also recognise the excellent work that our industry is doing to make a real difference to society, to the environment and to people’s lives. Let us never forget that it is those professionals working in the engineering, construction and infrastructure sector that will ensure that we build the sustainable world that we all want to see.

“In building that sustainable world, FIDIC’s key and ever-relevant values of quality, sustainability and integrity are crucial in ensuring that we conduct this work in the right way. Those values underpin everything that FIDIC does and provide a robust legal framework that enables our industry to deliver quality projects that impact positively on people’s lives across the globe.”
