Canadian water engineer Negin Tousi named as winner of FIDIC’s 2025 Future Leaders Award

Negin Tousi, a senior project manager and water engineer with David Nairne + Associates in Canada has been named as the winner of the winner of the FIDIC 2025 Future Leaders Award at an awards ceremony held in Cape Town, South Africa, on 23 September 2025.

The FIDIC Future Leaders Awards highlight the outstanding talent and potential within the consulting engineering sector, recognising individuals who have made, or are poised to make, significant contributions to the sector.

Announcing the winner of the award, Artur Brito, the chair of the FIDIC Future Leaders Advisory Council and a development manager at TPF Engenharia in Brazil, said: “These awards are absolutely essential in recognising the exceptional accomplishments of emerging leaders in the consulting engineering sector. And this year’s winner is an exceptional young leader in the consulting engineering industry who has proven time and again that their ability to take projects over the finish line is truly exemplary.

“They are already well known for implementing innovative solutions that address complex challenges and their inclusive approach and ability to foster positive collaboration among a wide range of diverse stakeholders is widely praised by industry peers. Negin Tousi has demonstrated her capabilities, excellence in engineering and community and professional society leadership in an exemplary manner.”

The award judges said “Negin showed great strength and passion in all the activities they get involved with. Whether it is a professional commitment or a personal endeavour, they truly represent the value of what being a future leader is about. She translates her knowledge into action, for the betterment of others, in a selfless manner and he advocacy of FIDIC core values, including quality-based selection through her work with ACEC-British Columbia’s QBS task force and municipal engineering committees, is laudable.”

Commenting on the 2025 awards, which were presented during the 2025 FIDIC Global Infrastructure Awards Gala Dinner, sponsored by infrastructure, engineering and advisory practice, Zutari, outgoing FIDIC president Catherine Karakatsanis said: “Our FIDIC Future Leaders Awards promote and celebrate the outstanding achievements of the future leaders of the consulting engineering industry worldwide and it’s always worth noting who wins this award as they are truly ‘ones to watch’ for the future.”

Two highly commended prizes were also given in this year’s awards. They went to Sen Jia, a director at the China International Engineering Consulting Corporation and to Abdul Haseeb Mansuri, Chief Executive Officer at Design Core in Pakistan.
