In response to the current situation in Ukraine and to help those in need of help, FIDIC is urging its stakeholders, where they are able, to support two important appeals which are attempting to alleviate the growing humanitarian crisis in the country.

Details of the two appeals, organised by RedR International and also the International Committee of the Red Cross, (ICRC), are listed below.

Support the RedR International Ukraine Emergency Appeal

RedR International is an international federation of charities which trains, deploys and supports aid workers, engineers and humanitarian organisations globally and which has very close links with the engineering and construction industry, including FIDIC. RedR International is launching an appeal and would like to ask FIDIC stakeholders to consider a donation to the appeal, which is aiming to raise £100,000 to ensure that people and organisations have the right skills to help rebuild lives in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. RedR’s expertise lies in providing people and organisations with the skills to address issues such as shelter, post conflict engineering, protection, psychosocial support, personal safety and security and water, sanitation and hygiene needs etc, all of which will be invaluable in the efforts to help ease the suffering of the many Ukrainians affected by this emergency. Please support RedR’s work by donating to their appeal today.

International Committee of the Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal

As the security situation allows, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is responding to urgent humanitarian needs to allow them to continue their life saving work. ICRC water engineers and doctors aim to help more than three million people access clean water and improve the living conditions of more than 66,000 whose homes have been damaged by heavy fighting. The ICRC, together with its partners in the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, remains active in Ukraine and surrounding countries, saving and protecting the lives of victims of armed conflict and violence. ICRC’s neutral and impartial humanitarian action supports the most vulnerable people and the humanitarian needs are enormous. All donations will make a huge difference to families in need.
