FIDIC conditions of contract are increasingly being used in the international construction industry and in projects financed by international development banks. A condition for successful international expansion, the employer, the consulting engineer, and the contractor or other professionals involved in the management of works contracts need to be conversant with the main FIDIC Contracts.
Program overview
The FIDIC online module 1 course presents the practical use of FIDIC Conditions of Contracts on the 2017 Second Editions of Red and Yellow Books with highlights of the major development compared to the 1999 First Editions.
Reviewing the main highlights of the new 2017 Second Editions of the Red and Yellow Books – the first to be published since 1999. Your course trainers Robert Werth and Husni Madi (a Friendly Reviewer of the 2017 Red, Yellow, and Silver Books), will highlight the main features of the new Second Editions and how they compare and differ in key respects from the widely used 1999 First Editions.

Course work
The Module 1 programme is comprised of 9 sessions over a four months period. The course is based on lectures in combination with directly related casework through which participants will work on real-life cases and practise application of the various contract conditions.
Each session lasts up to two hours. The preparation of casework must be made between the sessions and the outcome will be discussed during the next classroom session.
Work assignments may be undertaken at any time; lectures and classroom participation require being available at predetermined hours on specified dates throughout the duration of the programme. All lectures and classroom sessions are recorded and can be reviewed at any time, not to miss any session. Participants will be divided into groups according to the most suitable time zone.
Workload
- A session of 2 hours every 2 weeks plus case study work at home between each session

Admission criteria
No prior knowledge is required. This online course only requires that participants have access to a computer with an internet connection either at their workplace or at home, whichever is more convenient regarding the timing of the sessions.
Official FIDIC certificate
A Certificate of Completion will be provided by FIDIC to the participants having submitted in writing all of the exercises or case works on the FIDIC Academy eLearning platform. The participants who do not meet this requirement will not receive a certificate.
