This week sees the launch of FIDIC’s new series of State of the World reports and global construction and infrastructure professionals are invited to an online event to kick off the whole series on Thursday 18 February 2021.
The new series of reports published each year will shine the spotlight on a significant area, issue or challenge that the world faces, highlighting key solutions to address them by using FIDIC’s extensive networks and expertise to facilitate global cooperation and discussion.
The first report, Time to $Tn-vest, launched at a webinar on 18 February 2021, will highlight the trillion-dollar investment challenge facing the global infrastructure sector. Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank vice president Sir Danny Alexander will be one of the speakers at the launch webinar and his insights on the challenges facing the construction and infrastructure sector should be well worth listening to.
As Sir Danny states, writing in the first FIDIC State of the World report, “The report highlights the multibillion dollar challenge the infrastructure sector is facing not only in light of meeting current needs, but also in light of the sustainable development goals and the potential new challenges caused as a result of governments taking proactive action against Covid, possibly the worst pandemic of several generations.”
The scale of the global infrastructure investment challenge is massive and is quantified in the Time to $Tn-vest report, which also highlights meaningful and effective solutions that can be adopted by governments internationally to ensure that the world has the infrastructure it needs to ensure it meets sustainability targets and builds back better from the Covid crisis.
