Registrations are coming in thick and fast for the sixth in FIDIC’s Covid-19 webinar series – a highly topical event on ADR and the role of dispute avoidance.

The Covid-19: ADR and the role of dispute avoidance webinar takes place this coming Thursday, 23 April, starting at 12 noon CET and it’s no surprise that the event is proving so popular as previous FIDIC webinars looking at contracts in the context of the Covid-19 crisis have all raised the issue of avoiding legal and contractual disputes during the current period and retaining a focus on getting projects completed and avoiding the courts.

Speakers at previous webinars have highlighted the need for dialogue, open communications and working together and it’s clear that there is a real desire for the industry to unite to find common solutions to the current crisis. In that regard, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) is definitely potential solution to the contractual challenges posed by Covid-19 and FIDIC’s webinar this coming Thursday will address this important issue.

The webinar will explore available ADR mechanisms to avoid and resolve disputes arising from the impacts of the COVID 19 crisis in a most efficient way and will also include discussion on the possible impacts of COVID-19 on ongoing ADR proceedings. FIDIC has assembled a top line up of expert speakers who will address some of the key dispute resolution issues resulting from the COVID-19 crisis. By sharing experiences from across the world, the webinar will offer help and guidance to construction sector firms facing the challenge of dealing with the current crisis.

The speaker line-up is as follows: -

  • Nelson Ogunshakin, CEO, FIDIC
  • Bill Howard, President FIDIC
  • Aisha Nadar, FIDIC Board member, Sweden
  • William Godwin, Barrister, Arnold Porter LLP, UK
  • Nicholas Gould, Partner, Fenwick Elliott LLP, UK
  • Sir Vivian Ramsey, Barrister, Arbitrator and former High Court judge, UK
  • Mario Marti, Chief Executive and Attorney-at-Law, Usic, Switzerland
  • James Perry, President of the Executive Board of Directors, Dispute Resolution Board Foundation, France
  • Daduna Kokhreidze, Head of Legal and Compliance, FIDIC

As with all FIDIC webinars so far in the Covis-19 series of events, we expect a high number of registrations for this event so please sign up as soon as possible.
