FIDIC Online Training course on 1999 Red and Yellow Books with Highlights of the 2017 Second Editions - February 2019
FIDIC conditions of contract are increasingly being used in the international construction industry and in projects financed by international development banks. A condition for successful international expansion, the consulting engineer, contractor or other professionals involved in management of works contracts need to be conversant with the main FIDIC Contracts.
The Module 1 course programme is based on lectures in combination with directly related case work through which participants will work on real life cases and practise application of the various contract conditions. The case work will take place on a chat type of platform where the course participants present and discuss a case input in writing. Presentations, assessments and discussions of the submitted replies will take place in an on-line classroom. The virtual platform for case work is provided by Podio and the classroom sessions are run on Adobe Connect. This on-line course only requires that Participants have access to a computer with internet connection either at their workplace or at home, whichever is more convenient in regard to the timing of the sessions. Work assignments may be undertaken at any time; lectures and classroom participation requires being available at predetermined hours. Participants will be divided into groups according to the most suitable time zone.
We will also be reviewing the main highlights of the new 2017 Second Editions of the Red and Yellow Books – the first to be published since 1999. Your course trainers Robert Werth and Husni Madi (whom is a Friendly Reviewer the 2017 Red, Yellow, and Silver Books), will highlight for you the main features of the new Second Editions and how they compare and differ in key respects from the widely used 1999 First Editions.
Hardcopies of the course books involved (the FIDIC Red and Yellow books) will be mailed to all participants who have settled the course fee. All lectures and classroom sessions are recorded and can be reviewed at any time, not to miss any session.
A Certificate of Successful Completion requires having responded in writing before the next session on Podio to all questions and attending at least half of the classroom sessions.
A Certificate of Participation requires having participated in 50 % of all activities (attending the online classes and answering the questions).
The Module 1 programme comprises 9 sessions over a four months period, starting in February 2019. Each session lasts up to two hours. The preparation of case work must be made between the sessions and the outcome will be discussed during the next classroom session.
The course trainers are two remarkable FIDIC experts and FIDIC Accredited Trainers:
