Short summary experiences
I am conversant with the standard forms of contract (JCT, NEC, ICE, ICC, ACA, FIDIC, IChemE, etc.) and sub-contract currently in use in the building and civil engineering industries together with the associated methods of measurement. I also undertake the vetting and drafting of contracts, contractual documentation, seminars, and provision of legal advice, mediation services and overseeing of all aspects of dispute resolution, including litigation. I am experienced in the resolution of both complex and straightforward contractual problems. I am experienced in drafting and negotiating building contracts, warranties/ third party rights, supply agreements, parent company guarantees and bonds, together with the host of other documentation associated with project procurement and delivery. In addition, I am a member of the RICS Construction and Dispute Resolution Faculties, The Law Society, the Chartered Institute of Building, the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. I am a practising Adjudicator (having been nominated in over 275 adjudications to date), being panel registered with the RICS (since 2006), RIBA, TeCSA, CIArb, ICE, CIC, UKA and FIDIC, a Mediator and a mediation advocate. I have acted as an Adjudicator in disputes ranging from claims for thousands of pounds to those concerning many millions of pounds. The Adjudications have generally included the usual mix of jurisdictional challenges, timetable issues, time (e.g. extension of time claims, delay, disruption, prolongation), money (e.g. measures/ measurements/ quantities, rates, valuation of variations, loss and/or expense, interim payments, final accounts, damages, liquidated damages, termination, counter-claims), quality/defects disputes, contract interpretation and applications for declaratory relief
