Short summary experiences

Leading three cross-office teams on upstream and downstream disputes arising from two multi-billions dollar power projects situated in South Africa, involving (among other things) defending claims brought under a cost-plus-fee subcontract, and counter-claiming for very extensive defects on another subcontract. Advising on consortium arrangements for the bidding for, and (one hopes) the execution of, a modern sewerage system for the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, the capital and largest city of the Republic of Indonesia, and the largest city in Southeast Asia. Advising in relation to issues arising on a project for the development of a gas-fired power plant situated in Taiwan. Advising an EPC contractor on its available rights and remedies and attendant risks in light of pre-existing site restrictions and a supervening landslide at the site on a geothermal FCRS and PP system located in Indonesia. Advising the construction consortium on the resolution of their claims arising from the Holey Artisan Bakery terror attack in Dhaka in July 2016 and unforeseeable riverbed conditions on the Sitalakhya River, Meghna River and Gumti River, over which they are constructing long river bridges for the Bangladeshi Government. Advising and representing a multinational EPC consortium in relation to very substantial claims in arbitration arising on a multi-billion-dollar petrochemical refinery complex. Advising a foreign engineering contractor working on a section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, a broad gauge electrified double-line corridor covering a distance of 1,483 km and connecting Delhi and Mumbai, Republic of India. Advising an Indo-Japanese construction joint venture on their contract for the design and construction of a section of the first phase of the Jakarta MRT project, to link Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta with Hotel Indonesia Traffic Circle in Central Jakarta (the north-south phase).
