Segun Faniran is a qualified civil engineer with over 35 years’ experience in providing project advisory and construction dispute services internationally to clients on large capital projects. His career has focused on the planning and control of engineering and construction projects, and for the past 15 years Segun has applied his expertise specifically to construction-related dispute resolution work. His background and expertise in engineering and construction, accompanied with his legal qualification and claims management experience puts him in an excellent position to handle the most complex of construction disputes.
Segun is experienced in the use of FIDIC contracts (post 1999, including MDB) and is frequently appointed by both government and private sector parties on matters of contractual compliance; due diligence; claim and defence strategies; and developing strategies aimed at achieving commercial settlement / amicable settlement. In particular he is frequently appointed to adjudicate and provide neutral 3rd party expert opinion as a subject matter expert on delay-related issues in construction projects and contractual programming obligations under various standard forms of contact such as FIDIC, including testifying and providing evidence in international arbitration hearings.
His construction dispute experience has taken him to several countries across the globe including Nigeria, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and South Africa. Segun’s project sector experience includes airports, high-rise structures, commercial construction (retail and recreation), highways and road infrastructure, water / wastewater treatment infrastructure, rail infrastructure, defence, oil and gas facilities and power plants.
