Short summary experiences

Dispute Boards:_x000D_Some of the Dispute Boards I have served on have successfully assisted the contracting parties to avoid disputes, and consequently I have not had to adjudicate any disputes. On one Dispute Board I provided several advisory opinions on issues that did not subsequently become disputes. On one Dispute Board I adjudicated on a total of 13 claims totalling approximately AUD 26m, and on another, five claims totalling approximately AUD12m._x000D_Arbitration and Supreme Court Special References:_x000D_I have prepared reasoned awards in arbitrations/special references for amounts claimed ranging from AUD 34 m down to AUD 18,000. These arbitrations/special references have generally involved hearings ranging from 1 ½ days to 10 days. I have also prepared arbitration awards on the papers without conducting a hearing. _x000D_Expert determinations:_x000D_The expert determinations I have conducted have typically involved considerable technical detail involving 50 or more lever arch files of documents. One case involved assessing 130 individual alleged defects; another involved five claims totalling AUD 25m. Some determinations were prepared on the papers, and others involved a hearing/conference. My determinations included detailed reasons, structured similarly to a Dispute Board determination._x000D_Mediation:_x000D_The mediations I have conducted have been either half or one day – some have settled, whilst others have not. They have generally involved disputed issues that require technical understanding._x000D_Facilitation of experts’ conferences:_x000D_These are typically court ordered and require the Facilitator to read and understand the pleadings and technical reports and perhaps prepare the list of issues in contention. The facilitation consists of a conference, sometimes extending over a number of days, the conclusion of which is a joint report detailing the issues on which the experts are agreed and where they do not agree, the reasons for
