Short summary experiences

Dispute Board Member - I have served on 32 FIDIC contract dispute boards either as a sole member or three member boards. The majority of these dispute adjudication boards were located in eastern Europe or Africa. The majority of these being in developing countries. All are infrastructure with the majority involving the construction of roads, bridges and tunnels.Expert Witness - I have been appointed as expert witness on several arbitration and adjudication proceedings. The tasks has been to provide independent and unbiased assessment of prolongation costs.Technical Assistant - I was appointed in several countries a Technical Assistant to the countries road authority or ministry. Countries included Papua New Guinea, Ethiopia and Eritrea. I provided advice to the various authorities on the institutional capacity building and institutional reform of large scale transport contracts including road and rail development projects.Technical Auditor - I was appointed, either by the European Commission or the World Bank, to identify and evaluate deficiencies on completed or partially completed infrastructure projects. Projects were situated in the Caribbean and Africa. The objective was to pinpoint defects and and provide clear recommendations for future projects to ensure similar mistakes would be avoided.Supervising/ Resident Engineer - Usually appointed as the Resident Engineer/Team Leader, I led large multicultural teams responsible for supervising diverse infrastructure projects (usually roads and bridges) located in Eastern Europe, Africa, Caribbean, Central America and the Far East.Design Engineer - I spent the early part of my career as design Engineer specializing in Sewerage and Sewage Disposal schemes and latterly in roads and Bridge design.Technical Author - I have co -authored (together with Leo Grutters) “A Practical Guide to the 2017 Editions 2nd Edition” (published by Sweet & Maxwell 2018), "FIDIC User's Guide to the Red, Yellow, MDB and Subcontract
