Nick Fleming has been a leading contributor to sustainable development for over 20 years, utilising his background in engineering, a PhD in sustainable water infrastructure, and qualifications and experience in strategic business leadership.

He brings diverse industry experience, working internationally across sectors including water, transport, mining, defence and natural resources. Nick has an aptitude for finding elegant solutions to complex problems, often working at the Board and executive level to develop pragmatic strategies and designs to sustain businesses, projects and communities. He is widely published and a recognised speaker. Nick is currently a Director of Business Innovation at Jacobs following its acquisition of Sinclair Knight Merz in December 2013, where he was previously the Chief Sustainability Officer. Nick also sits on several industry bodies fostering sustainable infrastructure.

Nick authored a book called "Insight Trading" which shares insights and real examples drawn from around the world to demonstrate that smarter, cheaper, lower risk and more sustainable infrastructure is possible to deliver now.

John Boyd P.Eng, PhD. has been involved in international consulting engineering work for nearly 40 years. John was a member of the FIDIC Executive Committee from 2002, and subsequently its President from 2007 to 2009 and has been a member of FIDIC’s Sustainability committee from 2002 to the present.

He was a major contributor to the initial Project Sustainability Management Guidelines (2004), intended to help consulting companies to incorporate sustainability management into their projects and was the author of the revised and expanded version two and applications guidebook released in 2013. John has presented courses on sustainability in more than ten countries and for the past three years has taught a Masters level course on sustainability for engineers at the University of Toronto.

John has strong opinions on the role of engineers in society and their responsibilities in the solution of societal problems. He is the recipient of the President’s Award of the Irish Consulting Engineering Association for his contributions towards sustainability in engineering and of the Chairman’s Award and the Beaubien Award of the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of Canada for exceptional contributions to the Canadian consulting industry.
