FIDIC 2017 Online Advanced Training course on Red, Yellow and Silver Book
The training programme covers the practical application of Conditions of Contract for Construction (Red Book), Conditions of Contract for Plant and Design-Build (Yellow Book) and the EPC/Turnkey Contract (1999 Silver Book):
Based on a case story of a large WB financed construction project the various contract clauses are illustrated through their application, ensuing conflicts and disputes and the possible solutions.
The training programme covers:
Responsibilities of the Parties,
Management of Projects,
Tests on Completion,
Suspension and Termination
Risk, Liability and Force Majeure.
It is an advanced training programme requiring prior experience in managing projects according to FIDIC contract standards. It is specially designed for Consulting Engineers, Contractors, Quantity Surveyors, Public Contract Administrators or other professionals involved in construction work and contracts administration.
Admission criteria are: actual practical experience of more than 5 years in using the FIDIC contract documents or having successfully attended the Basic FIDIC Module 1 Course.
The course comprises lectures on specific key problem areas, discussion of participants’ personal, related experience and Mentors’ advice.
The case project comprises a number of Red Book as well as Yellow Book contracts, conflicts and solution discussion incl. dispute adjudication cases.
Case work takes place on a chat type of platform (Podio) where input is presented and discussed in writing. Presentation of results and mentoring takes place on-line in a live classroom setting (Adobe Connect).
Participation only requires you sitting at your computer with an internet connection at your workplace or at home as is most convenient in relation to the time of sessions. Work assignments may be undertaken at any time, lectures and classroom participation requires being available at pre-determined hours.
The necessary Conditions of Contract, other documents and case studies are provided electronically and may be downloaded subject to copyright restrictions. All slides, lectures and classroom sessions are recorded and can be reviewed at you leisure. You will thus never miss a session.
The programme comprises 8 sessions over a 4 months period starting in February 2017. Each session lasts up to two hours. Preparation of casework must be done between sessions and replies will be discussed at the following classroom session.
Hard copies of Red and Yellow Book will be provided prior to programme start.
A certificate will be provided according to the following criteria:
A Certificate of Successful Completion requires having responded in writing before the next session on Podio to all questions and attending at least half of the classroom sessions.
A Certificate of Participation requires having participated in 50 % of all activities (attending the online classes and answering the questions).
