Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) is a government-sponsored research institute fully dedicated to the development of construction technology. The research area of KICT consists of various fields covering structures, highways, underground, water resources, architecture, fire and engineering services. As a public research institute, KICT is doing its utmost to contribute to the national economic growth and the advancement of public living quality. Since its foundation, KICT has put most of its research efforts into developing cutting-edge technology for safer and more convenient SOC construction, supporting government policy making and execution, and providing the technology needed to solve the problems private construction companies has faced. With the aim of creating knowledge for the development of construction industry, KICT now tries to strengthen its relationship with small and medium-sized businesses and to cooperate with a number of prestigious international organizations such as the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).
